Lula Mae's Acting Debut

The children at our church put on an Easter play this morning for the congregation. It was so cute and they all did a great job! The two younger classes (2 year old class and 3 and 4 year old class) had a little line they were each to present right before the play began. Lula Mae has been memorizing scripture for almost a year now so we just assumed she would be fine. She had her line memorized really quick and loved practicing her "part in the play". She would scream it at the top of her lungs and tell us that she was going to get on stage just like Pastor David and Mr. Jay. We were thinking she was really excited and was going to do great. Before we left for church I grabbed the video camera and had Lula Mae practice one more time.

Then we got to church.

Then she saw all the people in the church.

Then she told her Daddy and I that she didn't want to be in the play and that she just wanted to go to her class.

Could our vibrant, smart, strong willed child really have stage fright? The child who loves to be the center of attention has butterflies in her tummy?

So naturally.... we bribed her with ice cream after lunch if she just went up and said her line. She began to see it our way and said that she would go up and participate. And then the moment came.....

Yep that is her... trembling and clinging to Aunt Heather.

Kids. When you want them to talk, they freeze. When you want them to zip it, their mouths run at a constant pace.

Dearest daughter, acting may not be your calling.

I love you, you little stinker!

Another Analogy That I Just Love

When I look at this video, it is exactly how I feel about my life before Christ.

3 Minutes and 52 Seconds Worth Watching

This is, by far, one of the best analogies.

This past weekend I went on a women's retreat with all the ladies from my church. It was nice to get away and refocus. It was on this retreat that I was turned on to Francis Chan after watching some clips from this years Passion conference. Hello.... he is amazing. I went on YouTube last night and just typed in his name. I clicked on this video. Wow. If you only knew my inner struggles you would understand why this video is so amazing. It was exactly what I needed to hear... along with a fantastic analogy. If you watched this video...

(I mean I posted it so all you have to do is press play.... you really don't have an excuse.... I will give you a moment to go back and watch it now if you were a slacker and didn't watch it before.....)

I hope it spoke to you. I am determined not to be that Christian. I want my routine/life to be more impressive than what I am currently living. Because unfortunately, I am currently doing that same routine that Francis demonstrated. Probably worse... I would say I am wearing a bungee cord too. Things must change.

Finally A Video!

I am so proud of my little guy! When I got pregnant with him I did not assume the Your Baby Can Read system would would work with him the way it did with Lula Mae. Obviously, I was wrong. He started reading his first word at 8 months old, just like his big sister. It is great system that I would recommend to ANYONE!!! I can't wait to watch him learn and grow!

Wednesday Pick Me Up

Is your week dragging by? Are you ready for the weekend so you can relax and enjoy some nice family time? Me too! I thought I would share a few things to make you smile and giggle to help get you through the rest of the week. I hope you enjoy them bloggy friends. Happy Wednesday!

First, a video.

Now, a few pictures! I love dipping oil! I really do! It is oh so yummy!

However, I do not like dipping oil with dead flies floating in it! Funny thing about oil is once they land in it... they can't get out! Even funnier thing is that I took this picture after my husband had been dipping his little heart out. Yum.

Last, but not least, a short story for you!

Let me set the scene.... I was in the kitchen, Jayce was snoozing in the swing and Lula Mae was playing in the living room. All of a sudden Lula Mae was frantically calling for my help. "Mommy, oh no! Mommy, help! My Mickey! My Mickey! Get my Mickey! MOMMY!" Well I was in the middle of cooking and really was not able to go on a Mickey hunt. I assumed she wanted her stuff Mickey that she sleeps with. I told her I put it in her pink chair and she should go and look for it. Well, she continued to panic. I washed my hands and headed to see what the problem was. Before I dried my hands I heard her say "Oh, Mommy I found him! Mickey was in my panties! Mickey tickled me!".......I stood there. Very confused. Very very confused. How did the giant stuffed Mickey fit in her panties (which is her diaper)? It tickled? What??????

This is the Mickey. Not her big stuffed one. She apparently sat on it and it got stuck in the leg of her diaper. You have no idea how odd it was for my two year old to tell me something was in her panties. It was even worse to hear her say it tickled. Oh my. Only Lula Mae folks, only Lula Mae! Mickey, stay out of her panties please!!!!

Bible Verse

In Lula Mae's Sunday school class they have been working on Isaiah 1:17 this month. "Learn to do what is right". What a wonderful verse! We have been reciting it with her every night after her prayer and I also go over it with her every morning during "school". She has it memorized now and I am so proud! She is learning how to hide God's word in her heart and I am so happy about that! Now that she knows this verse, when she is making a bad choice I can say "Are you doing the right thing?" and she will correct herself. It is great! Now, it doesn't work every time of course. Can anyone tell me what does work every time???? Exactley! It is always nice to have some tricks up your sleeve though! Sorry my child mumbles so badly on video, I hope you can understand her!

Lula Mae's School Update

Linking up with 1+1+1=1

I finally got a few videos of Lula Mae doing some of her "school". (By the way, school is going very well! I can't wait to really start home schooling this little girl!) It has been tough to get these videos for a number of reasons...1) we just had a baby so we are quite busy around here 2) Lula Mae is obsessed with the video camera and can't focus well when it is on 3) Lula Mae has been going through a phase of not wanting to answer anything I ask her in an audible tone (which is quite frustrating at times) 4) as all parents know, as soon as you try to video tape your child doing something amazing they won't do it... then you put the camera away and the do fantastic! None the less, we finally got a few clips! Nothing too impressive but I'm happy to share any progress that Lula Mae makes in school! I know she can do much better than this, but she still did a great job! I didn't get any clips of her doing her list of just random words (she can now read over 130 words! Go Lula Mae!), but that will come another day! Sorry if the volume is low! Enjoy! And as you watch this remind yourself that she just turned 2 years old :-) Opps, pardon my bragging....again!

To: Gina And The Gang From: Lula Mae

Okay, this is really just for a friend of ours... but all are welcome to watch of course! Honestly, I am posting it because when I tried to email it to her I realized it was too big. Opps! So out of laziness I put in on my blog! Yep, I'm lazy! Lazy and BUSY! So Gina, that is why you never got that email I said I was going to send!

Lula Mae at 21 Months Old

Now, this is not a serious video by any means, but I am sure you will get a good laugh! We wanted to get a video of Lula Mae's progress with her Catechisms.... but we picked the wrong time... and the wrong camera angle.... :-) For Lula Mae, the camera has to either be hidden or on a tripod! If it is in your hands she is obsessed with seeing what is "in" the camera. It is quite funny to see her with the video camera these days! I promise I will post a better video soon, but for now this will just have to do :-) Lula Mae did answer some of the questions, but she didn't do nearly as good as she has been! She was quite distracted by herself in the camera screen! Also, she felt the need to tell us about her potty situation... oh Lula Mae, what will we do with you!
